Tekkie Tax Day fun

Tekkie Tax Day raises much-needed money for Germiston Child Welfare.

“We put on our tekkies, tied our Tekkie Tag shoelaces and showed the world where we wanted our support to go on Tekkie Tax Day, May 29,” said the director of the Germiston Child Welfare Society, Barbara Bouwer.

“This year, Tekkie Tax Day was another successful fund-raising event for Germiston Child Welfare. As Tekkie Tax Day is becoming more and more known, the support is growing.

“It has been heartwarming to see that no matter which sector your charity of choice is, the support is out there and more people are getting into the spirit of Tekkie Tax Day.”

Bouwer also said the number of contributors increased this year.

“The number of participants in this year’s Tekkie Tax Day doubled from last year and it is evident that this campaign is starting to make a significant impact on all charities,” she said.

“We, at Germiston Child Welfare, thank each employee of a company, each child at a school, every child and parent in a nursery school and every individual that participated in this cause.

“Thank you to CEO’s of companies for granting permission to employees to participate and, in many instances, buying the stickers and Tekkie Tags for employees and making a fun day out of the opportunity.

“Your support has enabled us to show more than a 118 per cent increase in funds raised; a total of R25 000 was raised for Germiston Child Welfare.

“A big thank you again to everyone for making a difference and, it once again proves that R10 alone may not seem like much, but put it together with a 100 more and it becomes significant, thank you for being part of our T.E.A.M (Together Everyone Achieves More).”
