Germiston Child Welfare raises funds at Carnival Extravaganza

Great evening out raises lots of money for Germiston Child Welfare.

Germiston Child and Family Welfare thanks everyone who attended their Carnival Extravaganza at Rodizio Restaurant on May 28.

“The evening was a huge success with entertainment by Taryn Foley and her beautiful belly dancers,” said the local welfare’s director, Barbara Bouwer.

“Among other things, a 75th year anniversary Golden Lions Rugby jersey, signed by the 2014 Currie Cup squad, was up for grabs through an auction.

“It was a fun-filled evening with raffles, laughter, good food and even better company.”

Bouwer also said that approximately 180 people supported the evening.

“Everybody who supported us also contributed towards making the evening the huge success it was,” she said.

“A donation of R7 500 was handed over by Athol Marriot-Watson from Van Dyck, and numerous other individual donations were made towards the activities of the organisation.

“A special word of thanks to the wonderful team at Rodizio for their hospitality, excellent service and delicious meals.

“With all the support from everyone involved, the evening raised approximately R50 000 and is considered to be one of the most successful events of its kind for the organisation.”
