Police recover 11 firearms and arrest more than 190 suspects over the weekend.

More than 190 suspects have been arrested during crime prevention operations in various parts of Gauteng, over the weekend.

Lieut-Col Lungelo Dlamini said in a statement that police confiscated 11 illegal firearms, illegal mining equipment, dagga worth R300 000 and a stolen vehicle, during operations in areas including Katlehong, Alexandra, Benoni, Boksburg, Orlando and Honeydew.

“The firearms will be sent for ballistic examination as it suspected that they might have been used by criminals in serious and violent crimes in the province,” said Dlamini.

Police appeal to members of the public to always report suspicious vehicles and people to their nearest police station and/or to the police emergency number – 10111.
