Local model donates blankets

Avril Elizabeth Home received 40 blankets from Lambton model.

The residents at the Avril Elizabeth Home were thrilled to receive a visit from Lambton beauty, Gabriella Ferreira, recently.

“Gabriella is a model at Figures Models Alberton and at the moment she and 12 other models from Figures Models franchises across South Africa are competing to go to International Modelling Talent Association (IMTA) in New York,” said Gabriella’s mother, Natalie Ferreira.

“As part of the things they are meant to do for the competition, they have to do charity work.”

Gabriella donated 40 blankets to the residents at the Avril Elizabeth Home.

“Gabriella just loves giving and this task was just a bonus as she gets to do what she enjoys.

“She always gives and has been giving even before the competition,” said Natalie.

The winner will be announced on June 6.

Natalie also said her daughter’s charity work will not end at the Avril Elizabeth Home.

“Gabriella is going to donate pet food to the Germiston SPCA, more blankets to the Germiston Red Cross, visit Epworth Children’s Village and also possibly visit Arbor Village,” said Natalie.

The 18-year-old said she enjoys modelling.

“I have been modelling since I was five.

“I love it, it is my passion and I also love working with children,” said Gabriella.

“Among other things, I won Miss Personality and the best dressed at a competition in April. I was Miss Colin Mann when I was in Grade Four, in 2006, and I was a top scorer at the 2013/2014 Model of the Year,” she said.

In other news, Gabriella will be receiving her modelling certificate in a couple of weeks.

“We, at the modelling academy, have been doing a course since last year and we will be graduating in a few weeks,” said Gabriella.

“We were given classes to teach as part of the practical work of the course, I am happy that I will be getting a chance to share my knowledge and experience with others.

“I am still young but I believe the experience that I have accumulated will help groom others.”

“Gabriella will also be representing Germiston as a whole, at the current competition, and we hope for the best,” concluded Natalie.
