Five arrested for assault GBH

Primrose police send message to community about assault.

Members of the Primrose police recently arrested five men, between the ages of 18 and 31, on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The accused were arrested during a series of operations in the area.

“We hope that these arrests will send a message to the community,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

In one incident, a Solheim a man was arrested for the assault of his girlfriend.

It is reported that the assault was a result of a heated argument after the man threw his girlfriend’s cellphone into water.

Angry, the girlfriend did the same with his cellphone.

The man retaliated by punching and kicking her, causing serious injuries.

“These types of incidents could be avoided if the community consulted the relevant people for help,” added Maome.

All the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
