EFF Service delivery protest march peaceful

Residents hand memorandum over to council.

EFF affiliated residents marched on the Germiston Civic Centre this afternoon with a long list of demands.

They handed over a memorandum to metro officials in which their grievances were clearly outlined.

Some of the demands included; putting an end to illegal housing evictions, service delivery issues, discrimination, poor living conditions and sanitation.

There was also a call and veiled threat to stop the metro’s “Red Ants” from continuing to evict people from their homes.

“We believe they are currently in Holomisa, if they don’t stop what they are doing, we will go there and stop them,” said an EFF member.

The memorandum was accepted by a metro official and will be looked at by the executive mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele and his team.

The march was peaceful with no incidents of violence being reported.
