A 14-year-old boy ran into a burning house to save a woman on Saturday.

A 14-year-old boy risked his own safety when he ran into a burning house to save a woman.

The house fire occurred in Warbler Street, Elspark at about 2pm this afternoon.

“Exact details to the cause of the fire will remain a subject for fire department investigation,” said Chris Botha, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

“When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on the scene they found that the 14-year-old had run into the house while it was burning to rescue a woman who was trapped inside.”

After triaging the two patients, it was established that they both suffered from smoke inhalation.

Paramedics treated them on the scene and then transported both to hospital for the care that they required.
