Officers encouraged to double their efforts

Germiston cluster stations arrest 116.

The Germiston cluster police stations, in partnership with the EMPD, arrested 116 suspects from May 4 to 10.

The arrests were made during several operations throughout the week, which saw vehicles and people being searched during stop-and-searches.

Suspects were arrested on charges ranging from possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of housebreaking implements and theft, to domestic violence, reckless and negligent driving, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, fraud, house robbery, attempted murder, malicious damage to property, shoplifting, drunk and disorderly and statutory rape

Cluster commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo thanked everyone who contributed to these arrests, including the team who followed up a Bedfordview house robbery and brought the suspects to book.

Mdlankomo encouraged officers to double their efforts in making the Germiston cluster the safest in the province.

All the suspects appeared in the Germiston and Alberton Magistrates Courts, where some paid an admission of guilt fine and were released.

The remaining suspects’ cases were postponed for various reasons.
