Alleged tyre thief’s plans foiled

EMPD Equestrian Unit nabs tyre thief.

An employee of a well-known earthmoving equipment company had his potential financial windfall of R15 000 derailed.

The man allegedly stole four tyres from the company he worked for.

He was recently nabbed by EMPD members in the Germiston CBD and his plan to sell the tyres was scuttled.

EMPD Equestrian Unit members approached the suspect while he was in the process of finalising the illegal transaction.

“He claimed he had bought the tyres for his brother in Limpopo.

“The officers, however, confirmed with his company that the tyres were actually missing from their stock and had been taken without authorisation,” said Wilfred Kgasago, the spokesperson for the EMPD.

The 28-year-old man was charged with possession of stolen goods at the Germiston Police Station and was due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court to face the charge against him.
