Best-selling UK author visits local school

Children learn from best-selling author.

You could feel the excitement at Assumption Convent School recently when British author Andrew Cope came to visit the pupils.

The Grade Four to Six girls couldn’t wait to meet him.

Cope is the best-selling author of the children’s Spy Dog and Spy Pups series.

The series has sold almost a million copies worldwide.

He has also written The Art of Being Brilliant for adults and A Brilliant Life for teenagers.

Cope describes himself as a “professional trainer, qualified teacher, author and learning junkie”.

He is currently doing a doctorate at the University of Loughborough, investigating the science of happiness and positivity.

Cope has a passion for motivation and positive psychology and is trying to influence people to think differently.

He has delivered The Art of Being Brilliant to rave reviews in businesses and schools throughout the UK, Middle East and Southern Africa.

Assumption Convent School pupils were thrilled to meet British author Andrew Cope (centre) when he visited the school, recently.

Cope was in South Africa recently to present his workshop at the Annual School Librarian’s Conference.

Earlier in the year, while corresponding with Emily Gers in Grade Four, he promised to visit Assumption Convent before the conference started.

During his visit, he spent the morning sharing his ideas about being positive and creative, enhancing thinking skills, and discussing his main Spy Dog character Lara.

He then set creative writing tasks for each grade and handed out prizes to Bontle Katake in Grade Four, for her enthusiastic participation, and Nadia Sousa in Grade Six who won the creative writing task.

The pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed his visit.
