Spelling Bee Competition deadline extended

Get spelling and win a great prize.

The Spelling Bee Competition entry deadline has been extended by two days.

If you are in Grade Seven and would like to participate in this year’s Spelling Bee, and stand a chance of winning a Kindle sponsored by Hirch’s, do it now.

You still have time to register your school by emailing your school’s name and contact information to Thembi Mncwabe at thembim@caxton.co.za, by May 13.

The competition, powered by Caxton Community Newspapers and sponsored by Hirsch’s, will test the students’ ability to spell and offer future leaders an opportunity to grow their public speaking prowess, while improving their speech and promoting unerring usage of the English language, pronunciation and spelling.

The schools will have to conduct monthly knock-out contests, using a list of words supplied by Caxton, to test the students.

Each month, the school will supply the newspaper with a list of the names of students who have made it to the next level.

The scripts will be emailed to all registered schools.

For more information, call Daniel Seleme on 011 916-5349 or email to Mncwabe at thembim@caxton.co.za.
