Young man missing without a trace

Mother desperate to find her son.

Riana van der Merwe is a desperate mother.

Her son, Bryan Desmond van der Merwe (21), went missing on May 5 and she has exhausted every avenue looking for him.

Bryan left his Rhodes Avenue, Parkhill Gardens home at about 4.45am, to go to work in Benoni, and never arrived.

He was driving a white Daewoo Matiz with registration number KMZ 809 GP and, according to Riana, he SMSed his boss at 5.50am, saying that a fuse had blown in the car.

His boss received another message at 8.35am, saying that the car had broken down.This was the last time there was any contact with Bryan, who has dark brown hair, green eyes and a medium build.

He is 1.77m tall and weighs about 85kg.

Bryan has a number of tattoos, one of a skull with roses, the name Buks 2013 and a tree-like tattoo with a blue bird.

He has piercings in his chin and eye-brow.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a black shirt with his work logo, black overall pants, a green checked jacket, a black beanie and black safety shoes.

A missing person case has been opened at the Boksburg North Police Station.
