Dangerous park gets a make-over

Local DA representatives tackle the cleaning of Katlehong park.

Members of the DA, together with the Katlehong community, got their hands dirty on Worker’s Day.

DA activists and community members gathered at the Katlehong park before the clean-up started on Worker’s Day.

They tackled the mammoth task of cleaning up a neglected park next to the Tamaho Primary School.

The park has become unsafe due to the overgrown bushes, which serve as a hide-out for criminals.

Earlier this year, a child’s body was found in the park and the community fears for the safety of their children.

Forty community members along with DA activists cut down the long grass and overgrown bushes, using spades and cutters.

They were joined by children from within the community, and a girls’ netball team that were on their way to a practice game also jumped in and helped.

The community expressed their gratitude to the Democratic Alliance for their help and the area was successfully cleared.
