The men, who were arrested in Hilltop Street, in Dawnview, were charged with the possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

The four were arrested when a local security guard noticed the men behaving suspiciously and called the police.

When officers arrived on the scene they cornered and searched the men.

During the search officers found ammunition in the front pocket of one of the men while two of the other men both had firearms and ammunition.

None of the men could produce a licence for the firearm when asked to do so by officers.

The four were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were formally charged.

The accused will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
