Man handed over to police after botched robbery attempt

Man arrested for attempted business robbery.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 25-year-old man on a charge of attempted business robbery.

The accused was handed over to officers after a botched robbery attempt.

The victim explained to officers that he had been in his store, in Rietfontein Road, when three men entered.

It is alleged that the men tried to overpower the victim by strangling him.

“The man fought back and, realising that they would not be able to overpower the victim, two of the suspects ran away.

“The sounds from the struggle and the hasty exit of the two suspects drew the attention of a passer-by.

“With the passer-by’s help, the victim was able to corner the third man,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Officers were called to the scene where the accused was handed over to them.

The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
