Lambton dancer making her mark in the industry

Local dancer set to shine at international competitions.

Lambton’s star dancer Tatijana Ignjatov is getting better and better at her craft.

She recently qualified for the World Freestyle Championships 2015, in first place in the nine and under section.

However, this year Tatijana will not be representing South Africa at the championships at the end of June, as she will be jetting off to Bucharest in Romania to represent her country at the Dance World Cup.

“She has also been asked to be the South African team’s mascot,” said her mother Nina.

The Dance World Cup takes place at the same time as the World Freestyle Championships.

During the Dance World Cup qualifiers held at the Pretoria State Theatre recently, with judges from the United Kingdom and the United States of America, Tatijana walked away with the following awards: Most Promising Female Dancer; Junior Overall Winner; Dancer Package to Dance World Cup.She also placed first in all the solo dances she competed in.

And if one overseas dancing trip was not enough, the talented youngster will be heading to Porec in Croatia at the end of May.

Here she will be representing South Africa at the World Dance Masters.

Tatijana qualified for Croatia as the Overall Junior Dancer winner in South Africa.

Other competitions the little dancer has competed in this year include the Talent Africa Nationals to New York in March, where she won all golds and placed in the top 10 in the overall competition.

Tatijana was one of only two juniors who made it to the top 10.

She also competed in a competition called Dance to be Wild.

All proceeds from the competition went to the conservation of wild life.

Many dancers came to support this worthy cause and Tatijana won both the freestyle and slow dance in the nine and under section, as well as the 13 and under Champion of Champions section.

She also competed in the Battle of The Giants, held at the Sun City Superbowl, and won the nine and under freestyle and slow dance sections, as well as the 11 and under Champion of Champions section.

“Tatijana is thrilled and is working hard towards the two international competitions to bring back golds for SA,” said Nina.
