Minister of Transport wishes injured commuters a speedy recovery, sends condolences to family of dead security guard.

The Minister of Transport, Dipuo Peters, has expressed her heartfelt condolences to the family of the Metrorail security guard, Tiisetso Napo, who died on April 28, as a result of the Metrorail train collision at Denver Train Station.

Peters also wishes Marcia Sambo, who was driving the Tshwane Business Express (TBE), a speedy recovery at Milpark Hospital.

The Tshwane Business Express 1602 collided into the rear of Metroplus 0600 at the Denver Station.

Both trains were en-route to Johannesburg from Pretoria Station.

Train 0600 departs from Pretoria Station at 6am and TBE 1602 departs from Pretoria Station at 6.15am.

Approximately 240 Metrorail passengers were injured and are receiving care at various hospitals.

More than 120 commuters have already been attended to and discharged from hospital.

Metrorail has set up two offices, one at Pretoria Station and one at the Pippet building, just outside Park Station, where Metrorail officers will provide assistance to settle claims received from the affected commuters.

A board of inquiry has been set up to investigate the root cause of the incident.
