Commuters helped by alternate transport

One shuttle train and buses introduced to provide train service.

Following the train accident at the Denver Train Station on April 28, the technical team started working on the affected lines.

The train service is, however, still suspended between George Goch and Driehoek.

Metrorail cannot confirm the expected time of recovery considering the extensive damage to the overhead, railway tracks, platforms, signalling and the platforms.

Due to the fact that there is no power in the affected area to allow train movement, a shuttle train is running between Johannesburg and Driehoek Station.

This shuttle train will not stop at Denver Station.

Buses have also been introduced to supplement the shuttle service, to enable commuters to continue to their destinations.

This interim arrangement will result in major train service delays and commuters are advised to seek their own alternative transport where possible.

This interim arrangement will assist the technical teams to work around the clock to clear the line to restore the normal train service.

All the Business Expresses to and from Johannesburg did not run yesterday afternoon and were substituted with a bus service.

A board of enquiry has been instituted to investigate the root cause of the incident.
