Carnival City and Afrisun provide relief for displaced foreign nationals

Casino helps foreign nationals in their hour of need.

Carnival City and the Afrisun Trust recently heeded the local government’s call for food and other basic supplies to offer relief to foreign nationals who were displaced as a result of xenophobic attacks on the East Rand.

The partners purchased over R20 000 worth of groceries and other necessities which were distributed among the affected people in the refugee camps in Germiston.

Local government provided temporary tents and toilets in demarcated areas to accommodate foreign nationals who had been chased from their homes as a result of the wave of xenophobic attacks.

Most foreign nationals returned to their homes, last Thursday.

“Carnival City and the Afrisun Trust condemn the senseless attacks on foreign nationals in the Makause and Marathon informal settlements in Primrose.

“Many of the displaced people were young children and babies.

“We are determined to work hard with our communities and government to ensure that we lend a hand where it is necessary to the affected people in these areas,” said Afrisun CEO, Pumla Mutle.
