‘Let’s talk about xenophobia’

Metro to host anti-xenophobia dialogue.

The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Mzwandile Masina, will deliver a keynote address during the Anti-Xenophobia Dialogue, which will be hosted by the metro, tomorrow, April 22.

In an effort to advance social cohesion among its communities, the metro has invited various stakeholders, including foreign nationals, the government departments of international relations, justice, home affairs and trade and industry, and civil society, to engage aggressively and robustly on the issue of xenophobia.

Also expected are provincial government departments.

Ekurhuleni has been the most affected since the xenophobic attacks spread into Gauteng, last Wednesday.

Already the metro has established two camps in Primrose and Elsburg, respectively, which are accommodating over 1 000 foreign nationals.

The dialogue will take place from 10am, in the Banquet Hall at the Germiston Civic Centre, in Cross Street.
