Load shedding enters its fifth day

Stage two load shedding to be implemented from 6am to 10pm today.

Load shedding will enter its fifth day, as Eskom has confirmed that stage two load shedding will be implemented from 6am to 10pm today.

It is reported that these power cuts will continue into the weekend.

The company’s spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said today that, “Things are gradually improving, but we still have a long way to go.

“In fact over the weekend, chances are we may still continue to have load shedding because we’ve been running our water and generators for much longer period than normal and we, therefore, need to replenish.

“Some of our generating units have been returned back to service, and as a result we are starting the day in a much better position than we were in the last few days.

“But we are not out of the woods yet, which is why we are urging customers to use electricity sparingly.”

Today’s situation however, is reported to be in a much better situation compared to the past three days as several generators had been brought back to service.

Eskom had to escalate load shedding to stage three a number of times this week; as unplanned maintenance had to be done.
