The Elsburg SAPS has issued the following safety tips to be aware of when having your vehicle towed:
1. Be careful when making a deal with tow truck companies/drivers.
2. Read and understand the agreement entered into before signing the contract.
3. Do not allow your vehicle to be towed to an unknown or unsafe destination.
4. Get full details of the tow truck driver, registration of the tow truck and contact details of the towing company.
5. If you are not sure of the terms and conditions of the contract don’t sign it.
6. If you don’t agree with the terms and conditions of the contract don’t give permission for your vehicle to be towed.
7. If your vehicle is towed without your consent or permission report the matter to the police as theft of a motor vehicle.
8. If your vehicle is not found at the agreed destination or pound report a case of theft of a motor vehicle immediately, to the nearest police station.
