Crime taking over the Lambton Klip area, says CPF

Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF warns residents that crime is on the increase.

The Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF’s vice-chairman, Pine Pienaar, is warning residents in the area to be on high alert.

“In the last few days the area has been riddled with crime, including housebreakings, attempted rape, assaults, drug use/selling, motor theft and hijacking,” Pienaar said.

“We as the Sector Four CPF, urge the community to be vigilant and proactive, and to become part of the ears and eyes of the SAPS.”

On March 10, a woman was attacked in her Fifth Avenue home at about 12.45pm.

“She was brutally kicked in the face, stabbed in the arm and almost raped.

“The suspect was alone.

“This is the fourth time there has been a similar incident of this nature in the Sector Four area,” Pienaar said.

In another incident, on March 12, a woman who had withdrawn a large amount of cash from FNB in Lambton was en-route to Elsburg when, just over the railway line bridge in Webber Road, she was forced off the road by the driver of a white Bantam bakkie and the money was taken from her.

A similar incident occurred on March 13, when a woman withdrew a substantial amount of money from Standard Bank in Lambton.

“She drove to her home in Barclay Circle, not realising that she was being followed by two suspects in a blue hatchback Mazda,” Pienaar said.

“Upon entering her driveway at about 2pm, the two suspects drove in behind her, one shot was fired by one of the suspects and the money was taken from her.

“The thieves sped away in the direction of Webber Road.”

The Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF committee is urging people that when they go to the bank they should make sure they have someone to act as a look-out for them.

“Also don’t use a pattern of the same time or same route.

“Always be vigilant and on the lookout for suspicious vehicles or people following you,” Pienaar said.

In a fourth incident a man was arrested at 2pm, on March 17, in Wilson Street, Hazel Park.

He was allegedly trying to enter a house by kicking down the door.

He will be charged with attempted housebreaking.

In another case, three suspects were arrested and taken into custody for possession of Tik, on March 10.

The arrests took place at the corner of Eighth Street and Webber Road.

“In all the cases mentioned, the Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF patrollers were on the scene within minutes to assist and help where necessary.

“Renee Germishuizen, the chairman of the unit, urges all community members/residents and business owners to take hands and join the unit.

“Let’s take hands and address the problem. Remember, it’s another’s problem until you become a victim and statistic of crime, so let’s get committed,” said Pienaar.
