Men found with gardening equipment

Man in possession of stolen property.

The Primrose police recently arrested two men for the possession of suspected stolen property.

The men, aged 18 and 23, were arrested in Wannenburg, during a routine police patrol.

“While police were patrolling Fourth Avenue, they noticed the two men walking, one pushing a lawnmower and the other carrying a weed trimmer and extension cord,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

When the accused saw the police they abandoned the lawnmower and ran in different directions.

“Officers gave chase and members of community joinedin,” Maome said.

Both suspects were arrested.

When questioned by police they could not give a clear explanation of who owned the gardening equipment belonged, or from where it had come.

The two were taken to the Primrose Police Station, where they were formally charged with the possession of suspected stolen property.

“We thank the members of community who helped the police to arrest the two suspects; this is an indication that our community, too, is tired of crime in our area,” Maome said.

Both suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the matter was postponed for plea and trial.
