Man assaulted and robbed

Man arrested for Willow Street robbery.

A 19-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police for common robbery.

The incident was reported to police by the victim, who said he was walking in Willow Street when a Volkswagen Polo Vivo stopped in front of him.

“A man got out of the vehicle and asked the victim for the time, claiming he didn’t have a watch.

“When he looked down at his watch, the man punched him hard in the stomach,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused searched the victim, as he knelt on the floor recovering from the punch, and took his cell phone before fleeing.

The suspect was traced, using the description given by the victim, and arrested.

He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
