Charges against Katlehong crèche withdrawn

Public prosecutor deems no arrests necessary.

The GCN recently reported that a case of child negligence had been opened against a day care centre, in Katlehong, following allegations that an 18-month-old toddler’s feet were burnt there.

The case has since been withdrawn, on instruction from the public prosecutions office.

Capt Mega Ndobe, communications official for the Katlehong police, explained: “As it was said last time, the police took the baby to the doctor for a report.

“It was discovered that the baby was burned underneath the feet.

“The docket and the doctors report was taken to court for a decision.

“The docket came back with a report from the public prosecutor stating that no arrests should be made.

“The public prosecutor’s report stated that there was neither intention nor neglect involved in this case.”
