Man’s neighbour assists in capture of housebreakers

Two men arrested for house breaking.

The Primrose police recently arrested two men, aged 26 and 17 respectively, on charges of housebreaking.

The men were arrested when officers received a call from a man who claimed the two men were in his garden.

He explained that he was at work when he had received a call from both his wife and neighbour to report the men in his garden.

He rushed home and found his neighbour had already called a patrol vehicle.

The accused were caught with items to the value of R8000.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station arrived at the scene, where the suspects were handed over to the officers; the men were brought to Primrose Police Station for detention.

“As police we salute our community for handing over the suspects to the police without any injuries and without taking the law into their own hands,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications for the Primrose police.

The minor was charged and processed following the child justice act.

This means he was charged and released into the custody of the parents, while his co-accused appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
