Man stabbed in Makause

Group of friends attacked.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 22-year-old man on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and murder.

The Makause informal settlement resident was arrested when a man came to the Primrose Police Station and told officers that he was with his friends, walking along Stanley Road, when they were attacked by three unknown men with bricks.

The group fled from their attackers in different directions.

“The following morning, one of the man’s friends came and told him that one of the men, who was with them the day before, had been stabbed and was taken by an ambulance to hospital where he later died,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Using the descriptions given by the victim, officers were able to trace and arrest one of the three men accused of attacking the group.

“We humbly request that residents of the Makause informal settlement refrain from walking when it is dark as it makes them vulnerable to crime,” Maome said.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the matter was postponed for a bail application.
