Local companies to assist in case against the police

SAPS’s treatment of young woman to be taken further.

Sunnyridge resident Anika Doussy has initiated a case against the Minister of Police.

The 25-year-old woman was picked up by a member of the Primrose police recently, as it was thought she was the missing Nikita Bekker (14).

Doussy claims the police verbally abused her and treated her appallingly (GCN, February 20).

Two local companies, Swanepoel Attorneys and Precision Debt Collectors, have taken on her case.

“Attorney Jacques Swanepoel had a proper consultation with Doussy on February 24, in respect of the alleged incident on February 11, between herself and the SAPS,” said Juanita Horn, from Precision Debt Collectors..

“From the consultation it is clear that the SAPS acted unlawfully and that Doussy was very traumatised after the incident.”

Horn will assist Swanepoel with the case.

“Swanepoel Attorneys have been instructed to proceed with a civil lawsuit against the Minister of Police for damages and will work closely with us, Precision Debt Collectors, who referred Doussy,” she explained.

“This behaviour of the SAPS cannot be tolerated and they need to account for their actions.

“The public must be made aware that they have legal remedies against the SAPS, where they act unlawfully.”
