Make a difference in the lives of animals

Join the SPCA committee and aid the city’s animals.

Many people do not realise that the Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA is not government funded.

The society is entirely funded by donations from the community it serves.

Chairman of the Germiston SPCA Michelle Falgate is appealing to people from the Germiston and Bedfordview community, and surrounding areas, to come forward and support “Your SPCA.”

People willing to serve on the management committee are welcome to send a one page CV to spcacommittee@gmail.com.

It is stressed that being “on the committee” does not involve any operational work.

It is an unpaid function involving planning, support, fund-raising and sustainability for the Germiston SPCA on behalf of the animals.

The SPCA would welcome people with business acumen, especially individuals with skills in human resources, event planning, fund-raising, information technology or members of the legal profession.

“It would be ideal to have a local councillor on board, so this is a specific invitation being extended,” said Falgate.

“It is essential that the individuals who carry the responsibility for the SPCA Germiston and Bedfordview, are caring, compassionate people with a heart for animals. Yet it has to be made clear that the SPCA movement has policies, principles and codes of conduct which apply nationally, and which must be observed.

“Let’s make 2015 a highly successful one for your SPCA.”

The SPCA is also in need of volunteers to work in the SPCA second-hand shop during the week.

Anyone interested in volunteering their time to work in the shop can email to mishbutorac@gmail.com
