Faulty breaker responsible for power outage

Metro restores power to Marlands' street.

Many community members have been left in the dark with Eskom’s load shedding.

So when the power went out on Thursday, January 22, it didn’t seem strange to De Villers Street residents.

That was until 24hours later they still had no power.

Numerous calls to the metro’s call centre were logged to no avail.

The Germsiton City News contacted the metro, on the resident’s behalf, to find out what had caused the outage in the area and when would the power be restored.

Kelebogile Motlhomedi, a media officer for the metro’s department of communication and brand management, released the following statement:

“The power outage that affected De Villers Street in Marlands was caused by a circuit breaker being tripped.

“Technicians were able to restore power by Monday, January 26.”
