Resident concerned about EMPD’s visit to ‘gentlemen’s club’

EMPD explains reason for visit to ‘gentlemen’s club’.

The Germiston City News was recently contacted by a concerned resident who took a photograph of an EMPD vehicle parked at a ‘gentlemen’s club’ in Primrose.

According to the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, the vehicle was parked there at about 11am.

“What was an EMPD officer doing at the club in the middle of the morning?

“Even if they were off-duty they should not have been in a state vehicle visiting the establishment,” she said.

The GCN contacted Wilfred Kgasago, the spokesman for the EMPD.

“The officers had an appointment with the manager to request assistance on behalf of their friend who is involved in some form of martial arts,” said Kgasago.

“The appointment involved discussing training facilities and possible sponsorship.

“The establishment is involved in assisting sports people by way of sponsoring them.

“The appointment was at 10am and the meeting lasted about 30 minutes.

“They left the premises before 11am.

“Business at this establishment only commences well into the afternoon.”
