Roné shines overseas

Talented youngster showcases her talent to perfection.

Roné de Vos (13), a resident of Marlands, stunned international agents and management companies during a recent international talent convention, held in Orlando, Florida, in the USA.

The talented Roné was part of a group of more than 20 South African youngsters who participated at the annual AMTC (Actors, Models and Talent for Christ) Shine Winter 2015 event.

The GCN told the young girl’s story in September, last year (GCN, September 19, 2014) and, thanks to the generosity of people, Roné’s dream of attending the convention became a reality.

Her mother, Alet, said: “We do not have words to express our gratitude to everyone who assisted Roné to attend this stunning event.

“It was an absolutely incredible experience.”

Started in 1982, AMTC’s Shine Conference is a bi-annual talent convention, attended by actors, models, singers, dancers and comedians from all over the world.

AMTC provides young talents with an opportunity to pursue an international career.

Acting, modelling, singing and dancing competitions provide a platform for new faces and talent to audition for agents, personal managers, casting directors, networks and Broadway representatives, including music producers.

Agencies represented at AMTC included ABC, VH1, Walt Disney, Sony BMG, Elite Models, Sweetheart Records New York City, Capital Records, Discover Management Los Angeles, Cinq Deux Un from Tokyo, and many more.

During the convention, Roné, a pupil at Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen, in Boksburg, took part in various categories, including singing, dancing, modelling and acting.

She received personal call-backs from Dirk Otis, from the New York Film Academy, who said she had natural acting talent.

He also invited her to do a summer course at the academy, to further her training.

She also met with Nise Davies (Advantage Casting), Big Billy Clark (Allegory Creative/You People), Brita Jackson (Arquette and Associates), Doris Stinga (FFT Children), Jackie Patillo (Gospel Music Association), Barry Shapiro (Herman and Lipson Casting), JoAnn Smolen (Treehouse Entertainment Group) and Angela Bowers (VH1).

“Roné has truly made her country and community proud and is ready to pursue exciting opportunities in the entertainment industry,” said Alet.

“Her school has acting/drama as a subject and Roné is keen to work at her craft.

“She enjoyed the convention very much and I saw her grow in confidence during that week.

“She met so many new people and made overseas friends.

“I can recommend it to any performer and their family and I am sure we will still be talking about it for a very long time.”
