Power restored to Dinwiddie

Power restored after metro damaged cable.

The GCN recently received a complaint from Nicolene Thomas, a Dinwiddie resident, who had been left in the dark ever since her neighbour’s trees were cut by metro staff.

Despite calls to the metro, she did not receive help so she decided to approach her local community newspaper.

A query was sent to the metro to find out the cause of the power outage and what action was being taken.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, responded to the query with the following statement:

“The power outage that was reported to have affected Germiston and the Dinwiddie area recently, was caused by damage during the tree pruning in the area.

“The power has since been restored.”
