Local business floods 12 properties

Metro gives no deadline as to when work on the flooded properties will be completed.

The Germiston City News recently received a call from Barry Roux.

Roux, who is now at his wits end, explained that the business (Bulldog Callers) behind his business located in Christiaan Street in Cruywagen Park, has for the last three years been blocking the natural water drainage system found on the property.

By doing this the company has caused continuous flooding that poses a risk to both humans and animals.

“We have even had dogs drowned because of this flooding,” said Roux

The flooding is currently affecting over twelve properties, and has left the owners desperately looking for help.

The GCN contacted the metro, to find out what could be done.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro released the following statement:

“Upon doing investigations the metro has discovered that the storm water channel is blocked inside the yard of Bulldog Callers.

“A team of technicians will sent to open the trench in due course because the area is too wet making it impossible to work with machines.

“The municipality apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

No time line was given to when work on the trench would be completed.
