Tip-off leads to arrest

Man found with unlicenced 3.8 special.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 26-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The man, who resides in the Makause informal settlement, was arrested on December 6, when officers received an anonymous tip-off from a member of the community.

Officers were informed that the man was in possession of what the community member believed was an unlicensed firearm.

Officers followed the information given until they were led to a shack where they found the accused with a 3.8 special with serial number L12137 special.

When the man was unable to produce a licence, he was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the matter was postponed for plea and trial.
