Bertha Gxowa Hospital is designated as a district hospital serving Ekurhuleni in Gauteng.
Services provided are non-specialist in nature.
The following services are available:
- Accident, emergency and trauma.
- Allied services: audiology and speech therapy; clinical psychology; dietetics; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; social work; radiography (x-ray) services and sonar and pharmaceutical services.
All the allied services operate on an eight-hour basis, except for the pharmacy which operates for 12 hours on week days and four hours on weekends and public holidays.
- Medical-legal including post exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
- General medicine.
- General surgery — excluding orthopaedics.
- General paediatrics including prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/Aids.
- Medical laboratory.
- Reproductive health: obstetrics and gynaecology; ante-natal care; choice termination of pregnancy (CTOP first trimester); cancer screening and male medical circumcision (MMC).
- Counselling, testing, comprehensive care management and treatment of HIV/Aids, STI and TB (CCMT and HCT) and TB focal points.
- Out-patients.
- Theatre.
- Adult high care.
