When the Life Roseacres Clinic started their renovations, in April, manager Rozan Newfeldt promised that any inconvenience caused would be well worth it.
The GCN travelled back to the hospital recently to take a walk through the newly built or refurbished wards.
The upgrades to the facility included the following exciting changes:
- The day ward was changed into the wellness ward.
- The medical ward expanded.
- A small ward was built near the rear of the medical ward; this acts as the new day ward.
- The surgical ward had an additional room added.
- The ICU wards were extended in the following ways: adult ICU increased from a 10-bed unit to a 14-bed unit, the neo-natal ICU (NNICU) increased from a six-bed unit to an eight-bed unit, and an additional ICU paediatric ward was be opened.
This ward has a two-bed capacity to start with.
- In addition to the extra beds that are now available in the NNICU, the ward moved to a new facility located at the back of the paediatric ward.
It is now linked to the maternity ward, allowing mothers with premature babies faster and easier access to the NNICU.
- The reception area received a facelift, with the replacement of the tiles as well as other minor improvements.
- The hospital’s roof received a full coat of waterproofing during the renovations, to prevent any future leaks.
The wards were officially opened on October 18, with a host of free testing being offered to the public as part of the celebrations.
