Three-day workshop for aspiring filmmakers.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, hosted a three-day workshop in the Germiston Stadium Recreation Hall.

The workshop for all young, eager and aspiring filmmakers in Gauteng commenced on November 26 and was concluded on November 28.

The initiative is a partnership between the NFVF and the metro and is held with the aim of creating film appreciation and development in Gauteng.

“We host these workshops in different provinces; we have been to Cape Town, Mpumalanga and this is our Gauteng workshop,” said NFVF’s event’s coordinator, Carla Dias.

She explained that industry professionals were invited to speak at the workshop and that scriptwriting, directing, producing and pitching were discussed on different days.

Loyiso Maqoma led the scriptwriting session on November 26, Akin Omotoso the directing session on November 27, John Volmink the producing session on November 28 and Simon Makwela led the pitching.

“The next workshop will be in KZN, from December 8 to 10,” concluded Dias.
