Metro to verify the dead in its cemeteries

Ekurhuleni embarks on verification of the deceased buried in its cemeteries.

In a bid to ensure important information about deceased people has been correctly recorded, the metro is embarking on a verification process of those who are buried in its cemeteries.

Through this process the metro is aiming to update its books with the correct information of the dead and is, therefore, calling upon family members, funeral directors and residents to assist in this exercise of re-capturing data. Families and undertakers should have the following information on hand when calling in for verification: the name of the deceased, the date of the funeral and the grave number.

The municipality is moving towards implementing an electronic storage system for such information and is beginning with the re-capturing of data of the deceased buried in the following cemeteries during the stated periods:

Families and undertakers are requested to contact 011 391-2700, 011 999-7249, 011 914-1090 or 011 454-3044 with the required information, Mondays to Fridays, during office hours (8am to 4.30pm).
