Germiston siblings shine on the dance floor

Great year for dancing sisters.

It has been a whopping year full of dance for the Ignjatov sisters, from Germiston.

The siblings, Tatijana (8) and Vesna (10), recently competed in the South African Championships, the Talent Africa regionals and Dance Star Croatia.

At the SA Championships, at the Alberton Civic Centre, on November 28, Tatijana was crowned the nine and under SA Freestyle Champion 2014.

This was the third year in a row that she has won the title.

Vesna also competed in the South African Championships and was crowned the 11 and under SA Slow Dance Champion.

She also made the finals in the freestyle section, where she came third.

Vesna qualified in the Top five of the competition, while her younger sister, Tatijana, won the Best Overall Junior Dancer and Best Junior and Senior Dancer combined titles.

In the Overall Competitors title she took second place.

This title combined all the disciplines available at the competition, namely drama, dance and vocal.

Tatijana will be competing in the nationals at the end of March 2015, and, if she fares well, she will be heading to New York to compete.

The talented youngsters also competed in Dance Star Croatia.

Vesna qualified in the Top Five in her age group in the competition.

Tatijana came first in acro dance, first in jazz, first in modern and first in showdance.

She won the title of Overall Junior Dancer for the competition and will be heading to Croatia, in May, next year, to represent South Africa.

Both girls have been awarded full colours at school for dancing.
