Trees continue to cause electrical problems

Metro plans to prune trees that are interfering with power lines.

Trees continue to interfere with power lines in the Germiston area.

This time the GCN was alerted to a problem in Gerdview.

A disgruntled resident contacted the GCN claiming his power had gone off and that, despite calls to the metro, he had received no help.

The GCN contacted the metro to get answers on what had caused this unexpected outage and when it would be addressed.

Lebogang Ramashala, senior media officer with the metro’s communications and brand management department, responded to the GCN’s queries with the following statement: “The power has been restored.

“The cause of the problem was two fuses that had burnt at the transformer.

“The red and white were fuses replaced due to overhead lines touching.

“The problem was the result of trees interfering with the lines.

“Arrangements will be made to cut the trees.”
