Germiston SAPS cluster stations arrest 201 suspects

The Germiston cluster police stations recently release their arrest statistics for the week of November 17 to 23.

They recorded 201 arrests for various crimes in their patrol areas.

The arrests were made through a range of cluster operations, as well as stop-and-search operations in each area.

Arrests included:

  • Possession of suspected stolen property: 6
  • Possession of drugs: 17
  • Driving under the influence: 18
  • Attempted murder: 1
  • Dealing in liquor/selling without licence: 11
  • Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 18
  • Business robbery : 7
  • Possession of an illegal firearm: 1
  • Murder: 1

Business/house breaking and theft : 4

Others arrests were made for cases like theft, common assault, shoplifting, being drunk and disorderly, reckless and negligent driving, fraud, intimidation, contempt of court, common robbery, interfering with police duties, child neglect and possession of a dangerous weapon.

“Acting cluster commander Brig Samuel Tambo thanked everyone who contributed to this success.

“He further encouraged police members to double their efforts in fighting crime during the festive season and to be extra careful when approaching scenes of crime,” said Sgt Styles Maome, on behalf of the cluster commander.

Most suspects have already appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Some will appear in court again soon.
