Man does all he can to escape house robbers

Man arrested for housebreaking.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police in connection with a Sunnyridge house robbery.

The arrest was made after the victim travelled to the Primrose Police Station to report the incident, which had taken place at his home, in Collins Road, at about 3am.

“The victim awakened to find three intruders in his room,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“They threatened him with a firearm and a sharp object he was unable to identify.”

The complainant told officers he thought that the gun the accused held was his pellet gun.

“He began to scream and shout, trying get a neighbour’s attention,” added Maome.

With the victim screaming and shouting, the robbers decided to leave; they were able to make off with a cellphone and a TV.

In their haste to leave, one of the men lost his cellphone.

“Our police used the information on the cellphone to trap the suspect,” explained Maome.

“He was arrested around 6am on the day of the robbery, at his place of residence in the Makause informal settlement.”

The man was detained at Primrose Police Station, while a manhunt was launched for the remaining suspects.
