Become part of the Wadeville voice of business

Captains of Industry set to shake things up in Wadeville.

Wadeville will soon have getting a facelift, if the Captains of Industry Forum (ECOIF) has anything to do with it.

The forum, headed by CEO Chris van Biljon, has a number of plans for the industrial area, which will attract more businesses and retain those that are already operating there.

“Businesses are encouraged to join the forum and become part of the Wadeville voice of business,” van Biljon said.

Currently, the main focus of the forum is to aid the companies in Wadeville Extensions Four and Five to enclose their business area.

The area borders on Black Reef, Dekema and Davidson roads, and van Biljon said the enclosure will go a long way in reducing crime in this area.

Another, long-term project of the forum is to beautify the Wadeville area and a committee will be set up to run this.

“We have been encouraging a number of people from the township areas to set up cooperatives and they will focus on fixing windows and painting buildings in Wadeville,” van Biljon said.

“To this end I also have Proudly South African involved, and I believe that, if we can make the area attractive, it will attract more business.”

Van Biljon said he will be bringing Proudly South African to visit Wadeville on November 27.

The forum will also be tackling the issue of potholes and the lack of street markings in the area.

“Everything we do will be done in partnership with the metro,” van Biljon said.

The forum offers various types of support to businesses, including networking support and helping people to meet the right contacts to grow their companies, as well as assistance with municipal issues.

The Captains of Industry hold two meetings a month.

“We want to revitalise the manufacturing industry in Ekurhuleni and are starting with Wadeville,” van Biljon concluded.
