Businesses to get the opportunity to talk to the metro

Metro set to meet the business community.

The business of a municipality is to ensure that businesses stay in business.

Not only by ensuring that they have a stable supply of running water and electricity, but by adopting and implementing development strategies that complement the business community.

On Thursday, November 13, Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele and city manager Khaya Ngema will launch the “City Meets Business” initiative, a networking platform for business and the metro’s top management team.

An overwhelming 80 per cent of the metro’s income is generated by 20 per cent of its customers, which are businesses.

Yet for many years businesses in Ekurhuleni have not had an opportunity to engage with senior management on a formal open platform.

“City Meets Business” has thus been specifically formulated to engage with Ekurhuleni business as a collective in an endeavour to improve and open communication channels with the metro.

The launch will be the first of the get-togethers – which will be hosted on quarterly basis – and is to focus on the Ekurhuleni Growth and Development Strategy 2055 and progress on the aerotropolis and Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN) flagship projects.

Details of the “City Meets Business” launch are as follows:

Date: November 13

Time: 7.30am for 8am

Venue: Germiston Banquet Hall, Cross Street, Germiston.
