No load shedding expected this week

National power grid is looking strong says Eskom.

It has been reported that Eskom does not expect to have to implement load shedding this week as previously reported.

Eskom has however, warned the community that electricity will remain under intense pressure for the next 48 hours while the company works to restore its Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga to full capacity.

Due to this pressure the utility can not guarantee uninterrupted power, but the utility’s Andrew Etzinger says the national grid is looking strong.

“There are no guarantees at this stage, unfortunately, but we certainly are in a far better position than we thought we would be,” said Etzinger.

Rolling blackouts hit parts of the province on Sunday following the collapse of a coal silo at the station, causing the power plant to be taken offline.
