No load shedding expected today says Eskom

Eskom updates the community on the status of load shedding and the Majuba Power Station.

This morning, Eskom released a statement on the status of the Majuba Power Station.

The release stated that Eksom will not be implementing load shedding at this time and does not anticipate that there will be any load shedding today, as additional units have been returned from maintenance.

If customers experience power outages during this period, they are advised to contact their electricity providers and/or municipalities as it could be a localised problem.

It is reported that the risk of load shedding has reduced significantly and the prognosis for the week is better than expected.
Eskom has, however, stated that the system will be under extreme pressure on Wednesday and Thursday as the water reserves that have built up over the weekend for the company’s peaking plants will be depleted.

Eskom is pleased to announce that work at Majuba Power Station has progressed better than anticipated.
This is because teams have worked non-stop since the incident on Saturday and have been able to connect coal feeder units which have enabled the power station to ramp up the supply from 600MW to 1 200 MW.

Eskom thanks its customers who have heeded the call to use electricity sparingly, and once again appeal to consumers to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day, but especially from 6pm to 10pm.

Customers are urged to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances to prevent the need for rotational load shedding.
