Marlands residents are still battling with the ever increasing stench of sewage.
The GCN ran a follow-up article about the raw sewage flowing from the sewerage line into the vlei in the park bordering Pine, Wit and De Villiers streets, on September 26.
This problem has been ongoing since last year and residents feel no end is in sight.
In the article, the metro told the GCN that work on the line would start the following week.
However, according to Richard Bennett, who has been monitoring the area and has spoken to residents there, no work has, as yet, started.
“The sewage is still spewing,” he said.
The GCN approached the metro for comment on the matter again and received the following statement from spokesman Themba Gadebe: “The metro is attending to the matter.
“We have started repairing a portion of the line by replacing the collars with zinc, as well as portions of the pipe, as veld fires melt the plastic collars and are also cracking the clay pipes.
“The process will take some time, as there are some challenges getting access to the line, which is constructed on columns.”
