Security company alert police to break-in

Security guard puts a stop to housebreaking.

The Primrose police recently charged a 22-year-old with housebreaking and theft.

Officers were alerted to the break-in by a local security company.

When they arrived at the Pretoria Road home they found the home owner, a member of the local security company, who had alerted the police, and the man accused of breaking into the house.

The home owner explained that he had been at work when his security company called him to say his house’s alarm had been triggered.

When he arrived home he found that the accused had already been apprehended.

Upon further inspection he found that his flat screen TV and clothes to the value of R 2000 had been taken.

The suspect was taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was formally charged.

He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trial.

“We are appealing to our community to be extra careful, due to the increase in housebreakings and thefts.

“We suggest tightening the security on their properties,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
